The GP Edit: The Uniform

Everyone has a uniform. More like, everyone needs a uniform. No, I don't mean the ones on those schoolgirls that you see on television (or ones that you've worn yourself back in high school) but the ones that have become your go-to on days when you just can't be bothered to think about what you're wearing, or in most cases, your signature look. It's the easiest thing to throw on, it's comfortable and chic, and you are your most confident in it. It's the look that's tried and tested, no matter how differently you accessorize it or swap out items, it's classic and efficient, and it gets you out the door in half an hour or less.

Personally, my uniform is a blazer (or any jacket, I'm partial to tweed), a white shirt, and a pair of boyfriend jeans. It's simple, comfortable, and the blazer adds a certain classic elegance to an otherwise very casual look. My personal favourite is the signature Balmain blazer in black, with gold buttons, it's a little bit nautical and a lot military-inspired, and it looks stunning against a simple canvas of a white tee and jeans. I usually interchange bags and shoes, but you definitely can't go wrong with a pair of Chanel granny slingbacks or a pair of their ballerinas, or if you're truly going for casual, a pair of Adidas Stan Smiths look amazing too.

With such a classic combination, you really can't go wrong with any bag that you choose, go for a bright red patent croc like the one above or a simple grey bag like the Tod's D-bag or an etoupe Hermès Kelly, or even a contrasting all leather tote in cognac for a truly heritage look. A pair of classic sunglasses (or the mirrored ones, if you prefer) seals the deal. I usually go for my Mise en Dior earrings, just the simple pearls, a watch, and a hair tie on one wrist. It's simple and easy, it looks put together without saying that you've tried too much. Everyone who knows me knows that I just wear variations of this same outfit formula, and I can't help it, I know it works for me and it works beautifully with my own style.

Sometimes, I'll swap out the jeans for a pencil midi skirt or a pair of slacks, the black Balmain for a Chanel tweed or a J.Crew blazer, the Chanel slingbacks for a pair of pearl embellished slides from Zara, but the formula remains the same. The white tee is what anchors the entire look, the white tee is the canvas with which all of these looks together, a touch of casual and yet, it has a certain je ne sais quoi that is undeniably taken from the French way of dressing.

I'd love to hear about all your uniforms and all your go-tos from your closet, sound off below and we can all have a mini-uniform party! After all, we are all gals on the go, and nothing says gal on the go more than her signature go-to uniform.
